Obesity is a serious problem for public health, both in Denmark and worldwide. Since 2010, the number of Danes living with obesity has increased significantly and 800,000 Danes are today defined as obese.
We in the National Association for the Overweight have taken the initiative to gather a group of selected experts who have prepared proposals for how we strengthen the treatment of citizens with severe obesity in Denmark.
The expert group called the Obesity Alliance wants a broader discussion of what measures are needed to reduce the increase in the number of people living with obesity, and how those people who have already developed obesity can be offered the best treatment.
How should the approach to obesity be in the future? This is one of many questions that the Overweight Alliance is asking at the digital conference.
